Q: Does your Offline Trading Simulator work only on Forex?
A: All our products use the same offline test engine that feeds the market quotes from a CSV file – with 100% accuracy. So, you can test offline on any market if you prepare your own test data.
Q: Is the test data for the Simulator and Tester free?
A: Yes. We use free high-quality tick-by-tick data provided by TrueFX.
Q: What is the Smart Forex Tester?
A: The Smart Forex Tester is a generic name for the Smart Forex Tester Suite that includes our 3 main products: Forex Strategy Tester, Trading Simulator and Pivot Points Analyzer.
Q: How to use the online simulator?
A: On the Real time tab, select a currency pair, and click a green Play button. Note that online simulator only works when the Forex market is open and it requires an Internet connection with low latency.
Q: How to use offline trading simulator?
A: Please check out this detailed instruction. The advantage of the offline simulator is that you can test anywhere, anytime – even on weekends when markets are closed and any demo account is useless.
Q: How to use the Forex Strategy Tester?
A: The tester uses the simulator data feed, so it can work both offline and online. Before you start testing, you need to define and compile your strategy as C++ code. Please check out this guide.
Q: What is the difference between different products and licenses?
A: All products included in the Suite can be used stand-alone. They are free for our subscribers. Using several products simultaneously requires a premium license. Check the Smart Forex Tester Suite feature comparison table.
Q: Is there any trial period for the free licenses?
A: No. Your free licenses never expire – as long as you stay our subscriber. Moreover, you can switch between the free licenses as often as you like.
Q: Can I test Expert Advisors with the Smart Forex Tester?
A: Yes, if you have full source code. The Smart Forex Tester provides full-fledged C++ environment. The MQL language used to develop EAs is to a great extent compatible with C++. So, you can compile EAs in the Smart Forex Tester after making context replacements in the code.
Keep in mind though, that it is not possible for a complex EA that uses external libraries – if you don’t have source code for them.
Note that testing EAs as binaries is virtually impossible with only 3rd party tools without violating the MT license. We are not going to support it.
